Here are the abilities of the new legend, Catalyst, for season 15 of Apex Legends that have been revealed in the Eclipse launch trailer.
A few teasers have already been released for season 15 of Apex Legends as well as some leaks suggesting who the new legend will be. It has been confirmed that the new legend is called Catalyst and she was first introduced to us in the Stories of the Outlands: Last Hope video.
In it, we learn that Tressa Smith, aka Catalyst, is from the same home planet as Seer, called Boreas. Cleo, which is the moon for Boreas, is dying and Catalyst and her friend Margo differ on how to save it and we don’t find out what happens to her friend.

Apex Legends Season 15 Eclipse Launch Release Date
Season 15 of Apex Legends will be launching on November 1st, 2022 and the launch trailer of the season has just been released. In this video, we get to see the abilities for Catalyst in action and we also see that Seer has made a deal with Duardo Silva to bring the Apex Games to their home world, to a map called Boreas.
Catalyst doesn’t want to hear the explanation from Seer as to why he brought the Games to their home planet, which will make for some interesting quips between the two in the new season.
Apex Legends – What are Catalyst Abilities?
The abilities of the new legend have not been confirmed by Respawn themselves as yet, but we can see what the abilities look like from the trailer. Catalyst uses ferrofluid in different ways for her abilities and we will break down what was seen in the trailer.
Her ultimate is an iron tower, which is where the ferrofluid rises up from below. In the trailer, we saw it being used as a type of wall, which can be penetrated, but will slow you down making you an easy target.

In the trailer, Seer used his Exhibit ultimate ability, which doesn’t seem to work on the wall at all and appears to break it. As this is only the launch trailer and not real gameplay, it is possible that Seers ultimate may work after it has been placed, but that it yet to be seen.
According to leaks, the iron tower can be used to push you upwards so you can get the high ground instantly without moving, but this was not shown in the launch trailer, so we will have to wait and see if it can be used in this way. As it stands, it looks like it will be a great defensive tactic to keep teams from pushing if you need to heal.

It looks like Catalyst can launch the ferrofluid in balls, which can be used to hold enemies, making them easy targets. We see it used on Fuse and Maggie in the trailer, but it looks like there could be another way in which it is used.
Near the start of the trailer, we see Catalyst save the people she is with by shooting the ferrofluid in the air, creating a barrier to stop the objects from falling on their heads. It doesn’t seem likely that it would be a passive as it seems to work in a similar way.

There may be a toggle option so you can choose if you want it to stick to the floor or to create a type of barrier. According to leaks, this ability is called a ferro shot, which, on impact, the shot creates a ramp of hardened ferro fluid that can be extended with more shots. Can also be used to create platforms on walls (Max 3 structures).
The passive ability doesn’t appear to have been shown but according to leaks, if you stand near your ferro fluid structures, doors, and other Legends placeables will strengthen their integrity and allow them to take significantly more damage and is called Reinforce.
We will have to wait for the gameplay trailer to be released so we can see her abilities in action!
