In today’s update, cars will finally be coming to Fortnite Battle Royale. Here’s what we know.
UPDATE: We’ve added more information regarding cars in fortnite at the bottom of this post!
Update 2: Availability of cars provided at the bottom of the post. Cars have been delayed.
Since the start of Fortnite chapter 2 season 3 in the middle of June, players have only had one question in mind since the Battle Pass overview video teased drivable cars, when are cars coming in Fortnite.
A couple of weeks ago, an insider at Epic Games leaked the date cars will be in Fortnite to a handful of the most popular data-miners. The insider stated that cars would be coming to Fortnite on July 21st.
Epic usually announce updates before 11 PM BST, however, last night they announced the v13.30 update at 2 AM BST. As is the norm with a new updates, Epic sent out an email to those in the support-a-creator program to outline what will be in the update.
One of the highlighted features said the following, “Wheres my car? No sweat is investigating auto coverage. Until then, many on the island’s vehicles have been recalled”. It seems like Epic are suggesting with the addition of cars, there’ll be a large number of non-drivable cars that are removed from the Fortnite map.
Anyway, it’s all but confirmed cars will be in Fortnite today, and here’s everything we know so far.
Fortnite Cars
Will cars in Fortnite be added in today’s v13.30 update?
It seems like it’s a guarantee cars will be coming to Fortnite today. We’ll update this when the servers are back online, but it seems likely that’s the case.
What cars can we drive?
Judging by the posters that are found around the Fortnite map, it seems like we will be able to drive the following cars in Fortnite and possibly more:
Gas stations and refueling
The leaks from the last major update, v13.20, had new strings added to the files which state you’ll need to refuel cars at gas stations or by finding fuel cans through chests and floor loot.
It’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll be able to refuel you’re car at gas stations, but it’s not confirmed whether you can find fuel around the map.
Here’s some stats for Fortnite cars:
Where can I find cars on the Fortnite map?
As we’re writing this prior to the servers going back up from maintenance, we’re not entirely sure, but we’ll update this as soon as we can.
It’s likely you find cars around the popular named locations along with some landmarks. There’s a certain number of cars that can spawn in each match, so there likely won’t be a set place where you can find cars.
UPDATE: There’s a new item, petrol jerrycans for cars. You can shoot whilst holding it, but if it explodes, it does 99 damage to players, and 250 damage to vehicles.
If you use a car to hit a player at high speeds, you can bounce out of the car. Cars do 200 damage when they explode from close range, and 50 damage from long range. If you hit a player, they bounce according to leaks, so there won’t be any run over eliminations.
Update 2: It seems cars aren’t currently in Fortnite. Either Epic have delayed it due to the leak, or they’ll enable them later in the day along with a trailer. We’ll keep you update.
Update 3: The week 6 challenges has a challenge to gas up a vehicle Carry corner, which means we should see cars available this Thursday when the challenges unlock.
