Epic Games have pushed out a brand new Fortnite update today, 3.89, on several platforms. Here are the patch notes.
Prior to last week’s v24.30 Fortnite update, we hadn’t had a major patch release for three weeks when the usual cycle of releases is every two weeks.
However, for most of the player base, the update was worth it. The much leaked Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration went live which includes new cosmetics, a rewards pass to earn cosmetics including Darth Maul, and the return of Star Wars items.
Lightsabers are back in the game along with the other weapons we’ve seen released in the past. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a pickaxe lightsaber, but players can pick up skins including Anakin Skywalker, Padme, and the 501st and 212th Stormtroopers.
The v24.30 Fortnite update also included force training that allows players to train in order to get abilities including sprinting faster and the ability to double jump while your lightsaber is equipped.
Players can also lift and throw objects from the environment and hurl them at players. If you accept Anakin Skywalker’s training, you’ll be able to pull objects and players towards you.
With last week’s update, players weren’t expecting to receive a notification to download the latest version of Fortnite, 3.89. Here’s what you need to know about the May 9th, 2023 update.
Fortnite Update 3.89 Patch Notes – 9th May 2023
Epic Games announced on the official Fortnite Status Twitter account that they released a maintenance Fortnite update (3.89) on May 9th, 2023.
The new update is available to download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
Unfortunately, there’s nothing new that’s been added today, and the new release only addresses stability issues that have been plaguing the game for the past couple of weeks.
With the new season of Fortnite a month ago, Epic will release one or two more major updates before then with the next update scheduled for next Tuesday.
