Epic Games has announced the Halloween Fortnite update for 2023, Fortnitemares. Here are the server downtime details and patch notes for the v26.30 (4.03) patch release.
We’re less than a month away from the new season of Fortnite. Chapter 4 season 5 is expected to launch on November 3rd and leaks suggest the season will only be a month long.
If the leaks are correct, Fortnite chapter 5 season 1 will launch in December, likely with major new features including wall running and a potential open world and first-person mode.
Although the season got off to a good start, players are beginning to find the season boring and have been waiting for Epic to release the third major patch for season 4.
We’ve known for a few weeks when the Fortnite 2023 Halloween event, Fortnitemares, will be coming to the game. We also know what the 2023 Halloween event will include.
Here’s everything you need to know about today’s v26.30 (4.03) Fortnite Halloween update.
4.03 Fortnite Server Downtime – 10th October 2023 (10/10/23)
When Epic Games releases a new major Fortnite update, they need to take the servers offline for maintenance in order to prepare them for the latest version of the game.
Epic Games announced the next Fortnite update, v26.30 (4.03) and with that, they announced that the Fortnite servers will have to go offline to prepare them.
The servers will go down for maintenance on October 10th, 2023, at 3 AM ET / 8 AM BST / 9 AM CEST. As always, matchmaking will be disabled shortly beforehand.
Typically, that means matchmaking will be disabled thirty minutes prior to the servers going offline. Here’s the tweet announcing the Fortnite 2023 Halloween event:
It looks like we could see a lot of content for the Fortnitemares 2023 release based on how large the update will be. Epic states that the v26.30 update will be larger than usual updates on some platforms.
We’ll update the section below with the downloadable file size for the 4.03 update once the patch has been released across all platforms.
When Will The Fortnite Servers Be Back Online Today? (October 10)
Epic will never provide any information in regards to when the Fortnite servers will be back online. However, by looking at how long the servers have been down for previous releases, we can guess when they’ll be nack online.
Major patch releases usually result in the servers being offline for roughly two hours. If that’s the case for today’s v26.30 (4.03) update, we can expect the servers to be back online at roughly 5 AM ET / 10 AM BST / 11 AM CEST.

Fortnitemares Halloween 2023 Event Patch Notes – v26.30 (4.03)
Most of the content will likely be reused from previous years including the return of Witch Brooms, Candy, and more. However, thanks to data miners, we have a full list of the content we can expect.
According to data miners, we should be expecting a new item, the Vampire Stake Shotgun. Whilst we don’t have the stats for the item, we know the rarity will begin from rare all the way up to mythic.
We also know a Vampire Kinetic Blade which will be of Mythic Rarity will be coming to the game along with a red version of the Witch Broom, although we don’t know how it will differ from the normal broom.
We’ll also have two new Halloween-themed augments including a trick-or-treat augment that will provide an additional ten healing for candy that’s consumed.
Watchy Warrior is the second augment that’ll be added which will enable the Witch Broom to cooldown 20% faster meaning it will take 16 seconds to cooldown instead of 20.
The Pumpkin Launcher and Candy will be making a return as well as the Horde Rush Zero Build game mode. There are however some changes including augments being enabled, new cube monster part upgrade benches, old items returning and quests to get XP and possibly free cosmetic rewards.
