Epic Games has released the Fortnite 4.09 update today. Players are wondering why the servers are not responding and whether they’re down on 7th December 2023.
Epic Games concluded Fortnite Chapter 4 with the Big Bang event which gave us a glimpse of what to expect in the three new game modes releasing in the next few days.
Chapter 5 launched the following day, on Sunday. For the most part, it’s gone down well with the Fortnite community, but players are still waiting on the release of the new modes.
Today, the Lego Fortnite game mode will go live followed by Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival. Not all of the required files for these game modes were in the last update.
For that reason, Epic Games has released today’s new 4.09 Fortnite update. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest release.
Why Do Fortnite Servers Say Not Responding?
When you log into Fortnite during scheduled downtime, you’ll receive the “Servers not responding” message on the screen. That means the servers are down.
Are the Fortnite Servers Down on 7th December 2023? When Will They Be Back Up?
In a surprise to many, Epic Games announced Fortnite server scheduled downtime to prepare the servers for the release of the Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival games modes that’ll be released.
The Fortnite servers are down on 7th December 2023. They went down at 3 AM ET / 8 AM GMT / 9 AM CEST.
There’s no information as to when the Fortnite servers will be back up, but because Epic will likely want to ensure there’s no issue when the Lego Fortnite game mode goes live today, the servers will likely be down for longer than usual.
We’d expect the servers to be back online at roughly 7 AM ET / 12 PM GMT / 1 PM CST.

Fortnite 4.09 Update Today Patch Notes (12/7/23)
The Fortnite 4.09 update is available to download across all platforms. The new Fortnite update provided Epic Games with the opportunity to add any files they required for the upcoming game modes.
