Epic Games have released a blog post updating the player base on matchmaking, bots, and more.
Epic Games have provided players with an update on matchmaking, bots, controls, and the combine update.
Season X/10 Extended
The blog post also mentions what we already knew, Season X will be extended for a week. Season 10 will now end on Sunday, October 13th. The Overtime “Out of Time” mission is available until 2 PM ET which suggests that will be the time the season ends.
Matchmaking System
Epic also outline the reason behind the new matchmaking system and have stated that they will continue to monitor feedback and make adjustments in the future. The post confirms that all Fortnite players are matched together based on their skill level meaning players are playing cross platform. This means players can match up against, PC, PS4, Xbox, Mobile and Nintendo Switch players with no option to remove the cross platform play.
Anyone who decides to smurf will be banned. Smurfing is a method players can use to play easier matches. Some players including Ghost Aydan have received a 24 hour ban for smurfing.
Fortnite Bots
Questions regarding the recently announced bots that’ll be in matches in season 11 have been answered. Players will not be able to spectate bots that eliminate them, players will not support partying up with bots, and bots will not be able to use vehicles or crank 90s, but Epic will look to see how far they can push their bots. Epic are looking into an option of allowing players to match up entirely against bots for practise and will not add bots to creative, but is something they’ll consider for their roadmap.
The Combine and Controller Sensitivity Settings
Finally, Epic mention the new controller settings that they added in in the v10.40 Fortnite update. They state how you can go back to legacy sensitivity settings and mention they are discussing opportunities to improve control settings for keyboard and mouse users. You can read the full post here
