Since the v5.3 update, we’ve seen lightning striking at a particular spot near Paradise Palms. The cactus that were in this area have been struck one by one until all eight have been completely destroyed and have left scorch marks in its place.
It appears as though a Purple cube has appeared that grants players Shield when they are near the cube. If you hit the cube, you will be flung backwards and you WILL take fall damage. If you shoot at the cube, lightning will shoot back out, which can kill you if you’re hit. If you get killed by the cube, the kill feed will show the following:
UPDATE: It looks like the rift has completely disappeared from the sky.
