There’s scheduled maintenance for Fortnite today, May 3, 2022. Here’s the current Fortnite server status and when the servers will be back up.
We’re a month away from the new season of Fortnite, chapter 3 season 3, unless it’s delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Season two launched roughly six weeks ago with two a few new mechanics including mantling and the tactical sprint.
Epic also removed building from the game for more than ten days, a mechanic that made the Battle Royale title popular in the first place. For the most part, the removal of building went down well with the community with many “OG” players returning.
Although building returned, Epic Games added in the “Zero Build” mode, which still counts players’ wins in their statistics. Although the season got off to a great start, the updates that have followed are fairly lackluster.
However, a new update was announced recently on the official Fortnite Status Twitter account. Every major patch update results in the Fortnite servers going down for scheduled maintenance. Here’s what you need to know about the May 3rd, 2022 server downtime, the current server status, and when services should resume.
Is Fortnite Down Today? May 3rd, 2022
As mentioned above, every major release results in Epic Games taking the Fortnite servers offline for scheduled maintenance in order to prepare the servers for the release of the new update.
Today’s release is no different, and the Fortnite Status Twitter account announced that the servers would be down for scheduled maintenance.
The downtime began at 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST and matchmaking was disabled thirty minutes before, however, matchmaking was actually disabled a little earlier than the specified time.

As always, Epic never mentions when the servers will be back online. However, based on what we’ve seen from previous updates, they shouldn’t be down for longer than an hour and a half. That means the servers should be back online at around 5:30 AM ET / 10:30 AM BST.
