The Fortnite map is always changing and in the v8.40 update, basements/shelters have been added to existing houses. Here are all the locations.
Epic Games are constantly making changes to the existing Fortnite map instead of releasing a new map completely. Over the seasons, we’ve seen changes to existing POIs, new areas added and some being completely removed. There are many changes that have occurred in the v8.40 update, but did you notice that some houses in Pleasant Park and Retail Row have undergone some changes?
Pleasant Park Basements/Shelters
@iScenario has shown where the basements are located in Pleasant Park. When you break the boxes under the stairs of a Pleasant Park house, you will see the stairs that lead to the basement.
The other basement in Pleasant Park can be found behind a metal door. You will only need to hit the door twice before it breaks, revealing the stairs that leads to the basement.
Retail Row Basement/Shelter
There is one basement/shelter that can be found in Retail Row. You can break the floor or destroy the car to get to the basement.

There’s usually a reason behind the map changes made by Epic and could be related to either a future challenges or a part of the storyline. We will have to wait and see what’t in store.
