Here’s everything you need to know about Rainbow Ink in Fortnite chapter 2 season 8.
Alien Artifacts were added in season 7. They needed to be collected in order to unlock different customizable options for Kymera. Each week, new artifacts were added to the map, with most weeks adding five new artifacts.
Artifacts have been replaced with two different objects in Fortnite season 8, Color Bottles and Rainbow Ink. Both of these need to be found and collected in order to unlock edit styles for the Toona Fish Battle Pass skin.

We have an article dedicated to Color Bottles in Fortnite, but it’s time to dive in deeper on the Rainbow Ink collectable this season. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
What is Rainbow Ink and What is it Used For in Fortnite?
Rainbow Ink is used to unlock different styles for the Toona Fish Battle Pass skin. The Color Bottles are used to unlock the first set of styles, from there on, the Rainbow Ink unlocks the character styles and future styles that will be added in the next major update.
Where to find Fortnite Rainbow Ink (Spawn Locations)
Unlike Alien Artifacts from this season and the Color Bottles this season, there are not set spawn locations where you’ll be able to find and collect Rainbow Ink. You’ll likely come across the ink without even trying as you can find it from any chest.

Obviously, there’s not a 100% chance that you’ll get Rainbow Ink from a chest, so you’ll need to find and open as many chests as you can in order to get your hands on ink. We’re not certain, but we’re assuming you’ll have a guaranteed or better chance of getting Ink from the Cosmic or new cube chests.
