Fortnite Summer Splash 2020 Event

Fortnite Summer Splash 2020 Event

Epic Games has announced this years alternative to the 14 days of summer event.

Last year, Epic introduced the 14 days of summer event. During the event, there was a daily Fortnite challenge for players to complete and a cosmetic reward for each completed challenge.

Weapons and items were also unvaulted each day for 24 hours along with a fresh rotation of both new and old LTMs. Although there’s not going to be a 14 days of summer Fortnite event, Epic have announced a different event for summer 2020 called Fortnite Summer Splash 2020.

Epic Games updated the news feed on the Nintendo Switch to announce the Summer Splash Fortnite event. However, as of writing, there’s been no update to the pc or console news feed with any information on the event.

Summer Splash will be similar to the 14 days of summer event, however, it appears as though there’ll be no daily challenge for players to complete and no rewards to earn. From the news feed information, it also appears as though there’ll be no old weapons and items being unvaulted for the day.

There will be a daily rotation of both classic LTMs as well as new ones. Some of the classic LTMs that’ll be available during Summer Splash include Fog of War (Sneaky Silencers), Close Encounters, Unvaulted, Catch!, and more. Some of these classic LTMs will have some new features since they were last available to play.

New Fortnite Summer skins and the return of Summer Drift and Beach Bomber

Similar to the 14 days of summer event last year, there’ll be new and old summer-themed Fortnite skins and other cosmetics hitting the Fortnite Item Shop each day. In today’s v13.20 update, data-miners leaked a number of different summer-themed skins including Dad Bod Jonesy, and you can take a look at the full set of skins leaked today over here.

The announcement also mentions the return of the Summer Drift and Beach Bomber skins, but there’ll be a bunch of other Fortnite skins making a return to the shop.

We’re not quite sure how long this Fortnite Summer Splash 2020 event will last, but Epic do state that from now until the end of the season, players can drop into a rotation of classic LTMs along with new ones. It’s unlikely there’ll be new and old summer Fortnite skins in the shop until the end of the season, but we’ll update this with any specific information that’s released regarding the end date.

We could still see some Fortnite summer challenges and rewards added in the next update, although it’s quite unlikely. Either way, be sure to turn on website notifications so you don’t miss out on any of the summer splash news.

Here’s the full text from the Nintendo announcement:

It’s time to celebrate summer – the Fortnite Summer Splash starts now!

With the flood turning the entire island into a waterfront destination, it’s time to grab your swimsuit, an ice-cold jar of Slurp Juice, and dive into the Summer Splash. From now until the end of Season 3, drop into a rotation of classic LTMs along with some new ones. There are also new and favourite Item Shop outfits arriving – tailor-made for an island getaway.

Fun in the Sun: Classic & New LTMs
Throughout Summer Splash, enjoy a rotation of LTMs such as Fog of War (formerly Sneaky Silencers), Close Encounters, Unvaulted, Catch! and more. You’ll notice these classic LTMs getting some Summer Splash refreshment with some new features.

Brad new LTMs will kick off in a future update and include new takes on Operation: Knockout, a reell ’em in royale, and a game on elimination-powered upgrades.

Summer Vibes: New Outfits and More
Summer Splash will also feature new Outfits and other Item Shop items inspired by all things summer: sand, sea, sports, and – of course – good food. Dial-in your fairway drive as golf expert Par Patroller, Shark-suit up as Cozy and Comfy Chomps, unwind as Dad Bod Jonesy, and more.
