In last weeks update, Epic games addressed the issue with the double pump, effectively making it useless, or so we thought. When you fire the pump shotgun and quickly try switching weapons, players have to pump the shoutgun before being able to fire off a shot. However, it seems that there is a new method around this patch, making the double pump effective once again. It does take more skill this time, and it’s harder to pull off, but if you can can perfect it, you’ll have a huge advantage in close quarters combat.
Check out the video tutorial from Daequan explaining the method of how to perform the double pump. He starts explaining how to use the double pump at 50 seconds.
Here’s the method in text form:
- Shoot as usual with the pump shotgun.
- Swap to your second pump shotgun the same as you would prior to the patch but wait for the pump sound that plays once the cooldown had ended.
- Shoot the shotgun.
- Switch back to the first pump shoutgun and repeat the process.
We don’t know if this was intentional by Epic as it takes a lot more skill than before in order to pull off the double pump tactic. They did mention in the patch notes for version 3.0.0 that they’ll be monitoring the “fallout” from the changes they made to the gun and see how it’s used post patch. If we had to guess, we assume that this will be addressed in a future update.
