Chug Jug Thoughts

Epic games announced the ‘Chug Jug’ as the new item to be introduced in the V.2.3.0 update, but how will this affect game play? Let’s first take a look at the healing and consumable armour items that already exist:

 Item: Bandages
 Health Points: 15
 Time to use: 5 seconds
 Inventory max hold: 15
 Rarity: Common
 Other: Limited to 75hp

Item:
Med Kit
Heath Points:
100
Time to use:
10 seconds
Inventory max hold:
3
Rarity: Uncommon

Item:
Shield Potion
Armour Points:
50
Time to use:
5 seconds
Inventory max hold:
2
Rarity: Rare

Item: Slurp Juice
Health Points: 25
Armour Points: 25
Time to use:
2 seconds
Rarity: Epic
Other: Recovers over time; first consumable that increases health and armour points.

Item: Small Shield Potion
Armour Points: 25
Time to use:
2 seconds
Inventory max hold:
10
Rarity: Common
Other: Limited to 50 armour points

Now let’s look at what we know about the Chug Jug:

Item: Chug Jug
Health Points: 100
Armour Points: 100
Time to use:
15 seconds
Rarity: Legendary

Looking at the list we can see there have been a lot of additions from what was originally introduced when Battle Royale first launched (Bandages, Med Kits and Shield Potions)

The Slurp Juice was the first consumable that could increase both health and armour points. This was the first addition to the original items and as it is a epic item it isn’t as easy to find and was a great addition.

The Small Shield potions were introduced next and are very common to find. Again, we think this was a good addition to the game as it is not overpowered and is limited to giving players 50 armour points, which means players would need to find a Shield Potion to max their armour.

Even though we find both of these consumables to be great additions to the game, it did raise some concerns. This is because it has now become very easy for players to get maximum armour, as the Small Shield Potions are so common and the Shield Potions are not rare enough. Epic should consider changing the Shield Potion from a rare item to a epic item, so it will be harder to come by.

The Chug Jug is a very powerful item and so it should definitely remain legendary and players should only be allowed to carry one per inventory slot. However, by adding the Chug Jug it could be argued that there are too many items that assist players with health and armour and that it is too easy for players to find them.
