A new string of code confirms that stage 3 of the Prisoner / Snowfall skin will require the upcoming environmental campfires to unlock.
The Snowfall / Prisoner skin was available to unlock this week once the week 9 challenges were available, requiring players to complete sixty weekly challenges to unlock. Leaks from the v7.30 patch suggested there would be four stages to the Prisoner skin; however, players were surprised to find there were no stages when viewing the Prisoner skin in their locker.
Hey Stani, a popular German YouTuber, then found a key in the Polar Peak castle which unlocked stage 2 of the Prisoner skin. Players were then searching every inch of the Fortnite map in order to find the second key to no avail. Popular Fortnite leaker, lucas7yoshi_, discovered that although there is code for stage 3, it hasn’t been referenced in any challenge file.
A new sting of code, posted on Reddit by user Shwubbiz, confirms that the third stage of the Prisoner skin is not available to unlock, and will require the upcoming environmental campfires in order to get the second key.
In the post, he mentions stage 2 is actually stage 3 as the game disregards the intital stage unlocked via completing the sixty weekly challenges.
The Snowfall week 10 loading screen was leaked in the v7.30 files, showing the Prisoner sitting by a campfire. It’s more than likely stage 3 will be available to unlock once the week 10 challenges are available to complete. This means that the environmental campfires will be available in the next update, which will likely be the v7.30 content update. The code for the environmental campfires are already in the files, meaning no major patch or downloadable update will be required for Epic to add them to the game.
EpicRook, the lead item designer for Fortnite, mentioned on Reddit that the environmental campires would be coming to the game soon. Here’s what they had to say:
“We’re deploying a change soon that will extend the campfire gameplay further by allowing players to interact with the existing campfires found throughout the environment. Interact with the wood pile in order to light the fire. From that point on it behaves just like a Cozy Campfire: healing nearby players and burning out after 25 seconds”.
Stage 4 of the Prisoner skin will likely be unlocked the following week, with Epic confirming Season 7, Week 11 challenges will be coming in a post regarding Creative Features challenges. This means we’ll likely have a Snowfall loading screen for week 11.
