Rifts are a new feature added to Fortnite in Season 5, which replaces the Hop Rocks that were seen in Season 4. Rifts are very easy to spot, as they emit a bright blue light and when you are close to them, they seem to expand before teleporting players to the sky. This is essentially allowing players to have another drop and to transport to other areas of the map quicker than by foot. These rifts can be found in different locations in Fortnite, but will not necessarily be spawned in all the possible locations outlined on the map below:
One of the challenges for Season 5, Week 5 requires players to use three rift portals. There may be more rifts that you can find that aren’t shown on the map, but let us know in the comments section of the locations when you find them.
You can see all the rifts indicated on the map in the video below:
As rifts can transport you quickly from place to place, it is easy to see where players are and can actually be useful in one the challenges that need to be completed for Season 5, Week 1 where players need to search a Supply Llama. If there is no Llama in the area you land, you can use the rift to quickly transport to a different area and by pulling your glider early, you can scout the area for any Llama’s nearby.
Rifts are an exciting new addition to Season 5 and are extremely useful to getting around the map quicker.
